Some Libraries at the University of Texas at San Antonio Libraries
Here are the explanations about three libraries at the University of Texas at San Antonio Libraries according to Wikipedia.
John Peace Library
This library is on the main campus of UTSA and in July 2014, it completed the renovation process for 5 years. In this library, it has professionally staffed service points throughout the building and those include three staffed information desks and also a suite housing the Judith G. Gardner Center for Writing Excellence and the tutoring and supplemental instruction units of the Tomas Rivera Center for Student Success. In this library, it shows artwork which was donated by AT&T in 2008 when the company moved the corporate headquarters from San Antonio to Dallas.
In this library, there are over 2,200 seats and 370 computers. There is also an Information Commons, GroupSpot, a digital classroom and study space that facilitates collaboration through small group tables with shared displays, quiet study and computing areas and 44 reservable group study rooms.
The Faculty Center can be found on the JPL’s 4th floor. Here, there is a central hub for faculty professional development. There is also The Assembly Room which can be found on JPL’s 4th floor. Here, there is a venue with 120 seats which is aimed for major academic events drawing audiences from across the university and local community.
Downtown Library
The location of this library is on UTSA’s Downtown Campus in the Buena Vista Street Building. In this library, there are the same services available at the John Peace Library on the Main Campus. In this library, you are able to find the main collections of books and periodicals for Architecture, Interior Design, Social Work, Criminal Justice and Public Administration. There are also a general collection to support Downtown Campus students across a variety of disciplines and also collections of CDs, DVDs, popular reading, juvenile literature and curriculum materials. In the Downtown Library, you are able to find quiet study areas and 15 reservable group study rooms. There are also 36 desktop computers which include a quiet computing area, media viewing equipment, printers, a high speed KIC scanner, laptops and other tech gear for checkout.
AET Library
The Applied Engineering and Technology (AET) Library by UTSA in 2010. It was recognized by the New York Times and USA Today as the nation’s first bookless library on a college or university campus. The width is 2,200 square feet and it has 80 person capacity. This library serves students in the Colleges of Engineering and Sciences. In this library, there are three group study rooms and ten public computers, printer, a scanner, and five large LCD screens. In this library, the study rooms have whiteboard paint and writable glass surface and these things are provided to facilitate group collaboration on problems.
