You may have known that Jalen Ramsey played college football at Florida State and he won the National Championship over Auburn as a freshman. However, there is something which makes fans, and probably including you, confused when Ramsey introduced himself as having attended RPT college. The word RPT college made his fans a little bit confused why he did not say FSU in the line-up intro. So, what is the meaning of RPT?

RPT, related to Jalen Ramsey’s college, is the abbreviation for Ramsey Performance Training. Do you know what Ramsey Performance Training is? It is the company of Lamont Ramsey which helped train Jalen and his brother Jamal when they were younger.

Lamont Ramsey established the program more than 20 years ago. Firstly, it was a means for Ramsey to train sons Jamal and Jalen to improve their athletic abilities.

Much of that process occured at Ramsey Performance Training which still runs out of Lamont’s garage. It is to remind those who pay a visit that a state-of-the-art facility is not needed for greatness.

Jalen Ramsey made a statement that RPT was his college and he did not say that it is FUS which means that Jalen Ramsey is essentially saying that is where he honed his craft and became the player he is today.

According to the Photography By Sean Ponder site, RPT hosted a mini camp for NFL players and the name was Pro Grind 2018 in Smyrna, Tennessee. Players were looking to obtain some off-season work with the man credited for training Jalen Ramsey. On that site, it is also explained that there were several days of intense and targeted workouts.

Jalen Ramsey Early Life

How was the early life of Jalen Ramsey? In Smyrna, Tennessee, he was born on October 24th, 1994. His parents are Lamont and Margie Ramsey. Jalen has an older brother and his name is Jamal. Jamal took part in basketball, football and track at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee and he also played quarterback at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This university is where their father played football. Jalen Ramsey made his football skills by playing with older boys at a local park.

Jalen Ramsey was a student of Ensworth High School in Nashville, Tennessee, during his freshman year. However, he then altered to Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee.  There, he became a two-sport star in football and track and field. By Rivals.com and Scout.com, he was rated to be a five-star recruit. Not only that, he was also one of the top overall recruits in his class. Firstly, he committed to the University of Southern California (USC) for playing college football. However, then he changed to Florida State University.

On May 24th, 2013, in his final school track meet, he was able to shatter the Tennessee state record in the long jump with a mark of 25′ 3.25″ and it broke the 16 year old record set in 1997. As of 2016, in TSSAA history, there was no other athlete that has gotten beyond the 25-foot mark.

Jalen Ramsey competed in a lot of events which ranged from the 100 meters to the shot put. He was able to record personal best times in the 100 meter dash where his personal best times was 10.50. Not only that, he was also able to record 21.44 in the 200 meter dash and 48.02 in the 400 meter dash.

In the high jump, he established personal bests at 6′ 8″ and the triple jump 47′ 7″. In the shot put, he also posted a top throw of 49′ 11″.
