What is RCTC D2L?

RCTC D2L is a learning management system used by Rochester Community and Technical College. It is powered and hosted by Brightspace by D2L (Desire2Learn). RCTC D2L is used to deliver the university’s online courses. Also, it support the face-to-face and blended classes classroom instruction.

RCTC D2L is really user friendly. If you navigate WebPages, complete online forms, and download files from the internet, you will be able to use RCTC D2L.
RCTC D2L supports most modern web browsers. Remember that older browsers are not recommended. For this case, we suggest you to use Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
RCTC D2L uses popup windows for certain features. Please make sure to disable the browser’s popup blockers or add RCTC D2L as an exception.

How to log in to RCTC D2L?

You have to login to RCTC D2L Brightspace for access your courses. For note: New student accounts are made 55 days before the semester. So, how to log in to RCTC D2L? It is easy to log in to RCTC D2L.

To login to RCTC D2L, you have two options:

To login to RCTC D2L by using StarID:

At the first step, you have to select the sign on with StarID button.
After that, you will be bring to the page of Sign on with your StarID.
Then, you have to enter your StarID.
Afterwards, you have to enter your password.
The last step, click at the Sign on button.

For your information, the StarID is a username which replaces many login IDs with one ID, one password, everywhere. You only need one StarID: you are able to use the same StarID across Minnesota State to log into many services like D2L Brightspace, email, and more.

To login to RCTC D2L by using non-StarID:

At the first step, you have to select the sign on with non-StarID button.
After that, you will be bring to the login page.
Then, you have to enter your username.
Afterwards, you have to enter your password carefully.
The last step, click at the log in button.

After you log in to RCTC D2L, then you will be able to view your courses, explore tools & features, and customize your eLearning experience.

In other case, if you forget your password, simply click at the link of forgot your password. Please enter your username. Click submit button. Then, they are going to send you a password reset link to the email address associated with your username.

How to log out of RCTC D2L?

After you log in to RCTC D2L and finish all task you want to do on RCTC D2L, then you have to log out of RCTC D2L. Keep in mind that it is important to log out of RCTC D2L especially if you are using a public computer.

To log out of RCTC D2L Brightspace, here are steps to do:

On the minibar, click on your username.
After that, you are able to select Log out button.
Please ensure that you log out of RCTC D2L successfully.

After you log out of RCTC D2L Brightspace successfully, now you will sure that there are no one can access your account.

How to access RCTC email?

Now, you may want to know how to access RCTC email. For your information, Office 365 accounts will be used for official campus for the student e-mail. If you need to access other Microsoft services for personal use, including X-Box, Messenger, SkyDrive, etc, you are able to access using your original Live@edu accounts. Remember that the user name is the same for both accounts, however the password is different for each.

Student login is StarID@go.minnstate.edu format of email address.
Password is StarID password. Your password is required to be changed every 180 days.

All students of Rochester Community and Technical College are responsible for activating their university network ID and also their e-mail account. RCTC assigned student email accounts will be the preferred means of communication with all students attending RCTC (Rochester Community and Technical College). The students are responsible for all information sent to them via their officially assigned e-mail account. If a student selects to forward their RCTC e-mail account, she or he is responsible for all information, including the attachments which sent to any other email account.

How to update address?

It is very important to keep your mailing address current so that you will receive essential college communications and it helps them all by lowering costs of returned and re-sent mail.

Here are steps to update your address:

At the first step, you have to login to your online account.
After that, you have to choose the ‘Student’ tab.
The next step is to choose the ‘Address Maintenance’ link.
Please choose the ‘Edit’ link.
Now, you are able to follow the on-screen instructions.

How to update Demographic Profile?

Demographic profile includes your personal e-mail address, ethnicity, birthdate and gender/sex. You will be abel to update any or all of these items at any time.
