Clever is a digital platform which is used by LAUSD. If you are a student of LAUSD, you need to know about this platform. Here, we are going to explain about how to log in to Clever and also a little bit about Clever Badges.

Logging In To the Clever Portal

If you want to log into the Clever Portal, you have to go to your district’s Clever login page. If you do not know your district’s Clever login page, you are able to access this link http://www.clever.com/login and then you have to find your school or district. If your school cannot be found, then you are able to ask your teacher where you need to go to log into Clever.

It is important for you to note that you have to log in using your district username and password. Note that your username and password are set up by your school district. They may be your ID, student number or email address.

If you are using the Log In With Clever button, you have to enter your district username and password. This information namely your username and password are set up by your school district. These may be your ID, student number or email address. If you find that there is the error Invalid Username or Password, the meaning is that the username and/or password that you have inserted are not right for your Clever account.

If you log in to Clever by using Log In with Google button, you will be taken to sign in to the Google email which is linked to your Clever account. You have to enter your school-provided email address. If there is an error message which says “Wrong password. Try Again”, the meaning is that your email or password is not right. So, you can try again or contact your teacher for help. However, if the error message is ‘Uh, oh! We were not able to authenticate using Google email: xxxx@example.com’, which means that the Google email that you signed into is not the email which is linked to your Clever account. So, you need to make sure you are using your school-provided email.

If you log into Clever using the Log In with Active Directory button, you will be taken to sign into your school account via Active Directory Federation Services. It is important to note that the username and password for ADFS are given by your school. For Active Directory, the username and password are usually the email and password that you use for logging on to the computer at school.

If you find that there is an error message which is the same as ‘Incorrect user ID or password’, you have to contact your teacher for help. If you click on Login With Active Directory or Log In with Office 365 and then you find that the login page fails to load, you can try to clear your cache. If you access Clever from a Chromebook, it is recommended for you to sign out of the Chromebook and then restart the device.

Using a Backup Code at Clever

If you have no clue about your login information for Clever, a Backup Code can be given by your teacher to log in to Clever. If you want to use a Backup Code, you have to click the Get Help Signing In link from your Clever login page and then you must click on the Students: Log in with a Backup Code. After that, you have to enter the Backup Code which is given by your teacher and then do not forget to click on the Login button.

How to Log Into Apps through Clever for Students

If you are a student  of LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District) and now you want to log into apps through Clever, you are able to do that by following the steps below.

  • The first thing that you have to do is to access http://clever.com/in/lausd?skip=1. After you access this link, then you have to enter your LAUSD email address and password to login (msmith@lausd.net).
  • Now, you have to click on Back To The Lake, The Norton Field Guide to Writing or another application. Then, you will be logged into your account automatically without having to log in again.

If you forgot your LAUSD email and password, you are able to talk to a teacher or school technology specialist.

Logging Out of Clever

Now, how to log out from Clever? You have to navigate to the Clever Portal and then you must hover over your name which is located in the top right corner and then click on the Log Out button.

You will also log out of Clever automatically after 24 hours of inactivity or the browser is quit. If you close the browser window, it will not log you out of Clever.

Clever Badges

Clever Instant Login permits students and teachers to access their education applications with a single username and password safely. With Clever Badges, as a student, you are able to hold up a physical Badge with a QR code to the webcam of the computer to log in instead of typing credentials.

How to Set Up Clever Badges for Your Classroom

  • The first thing to do is to log in at https://clever.com/in/lausd?skip=1 by using your Active Directory credentials.
  • After that, click on Classes.
  • In this step, you have to click on the class that you want to print badges for.
  • Now, you need to click on the Download Class Set of Badges and you will get a PDF with all of your student badges.

Troubleshooting Clever Badges Problems

If you find that a student’s badge is lost, stolen or even compromised in any way, you are able to void or print new badges on an individual student basis by following the instructions below.

  • The first thing that you have to do is to log in at this link https://clever.com/in/lausd?skip=1.
  • After that, you need to click on Classes.
  • Now, you have to click on the student’s name on your class roster and there will be the option to reprint an identical badge or void it completely. After you void it, you may be able to print a brand new QR code.
