How to Login to D2L at MTSU
To be able to access the materials and content, submit your assignments and everything in D2L, you need to login first. How to login to D2L at MTSU?

- Another way that you can access to login to D2L at MTSU is to access MTSU homepage and then you have to choose Quick Links and then choose D2L.
- Alternatively, you can access D2L through Pipeline and then click on D2L along the top right of the screen.
After you choose one of the ways above to login to D2L, then you will be taken to a page where you have to enter your username.
According to the official website of Middle Tennessee State University, you have to use a full Pipeline username for example stamam@mtmail.mtsu.edu and not sandy.tamam@mtmail.mtsu.edu. It is also important for you to know that when you change your password for Pipeline, it also means that you change your password for D2L automatically.
Recommended Browsers for Accessing D2L
When you access D2L, one of the most important things that you need to prepare is the browser that you have to use for optimal experience. Usually, the best browser that you can use for accessing D2L is Chrome because it can give the best results. If you prefer Firefox and Safari, it can also work well. However, it is better for you to avoid Internet Explorer because it is not supported for D2L.
How about devices for accessing D2L? It is better for you to use a laptop or desktop because it can give you the best experience when you access D2L. If you want to use a mobile phone, it is better if you do that for quick access when your laptop or desktop is not readily available. In addition, generic mobile browsers may not give good results in sending D2L information.
D2L Course Access at MTSU
You are able to access your courses in D2L after you log in. After you log into D2L, then you have to use the My Courses widget with the current semester chosen along the top of that widget. Alternatively, you are able to use the Select A Course where there are 9 boxes along the top of the screen.
Usually, students see the D2L course by the first day of the semester. However, there are some faculty which open the D2L course 5 days before the beginning of the semester. There are also other instructors who decide to wait until the first day of the semester. So, all courses do not show in D2L on the same day.
You will see only the courses for the current term unless you have an incomplete for a course. It is important for you to note that the courses of the term are not available anymore 10 days after the last course day. However, there are some faculty which may close the course using different timing.
Navigation at My Home/ Course Home in D2L MTSU
In the My Homepage in D2L, there are some menus and you can access them based on what you need. Here are the menus that you can find.

This menu is for finding your courses.
This is for accessing D2L email.
- ePortfolio
This is for accessing ePortfolio.
- Support
This is for getting student support resources including ITD Helpdesk: 615-898-5345.
- Dialog Icon
This is for various alerts.
- Your Name
If you click on your name in the top right of this screen, you can adjust your D2L profile, notifications and account settings and log out of D2L.
If you click on Course Home when you are working in a course, you will be taken to the landing spot for a course. Usually, here are what you will find:
- Course Navigation bar or navbar and it includes Content, Course Home, Assessment Options, Communication options, Help and ePortfolio.
- Course News and other course ‘widgets’ of links.
- Course Assessment options such as Grades, Discussions, Dropbox, Quizzes and many more.
- Course Communication options such as Classlist, Chat, Email, Discussions and many more.
- Course Banner Image, but some instructors do not use this option.
How to Access Course Materials in D2L
Course syllabus is the first thing that you will look for. You should find it in one of the first pieces of the overview or the Table of Contents.
If you want to access the course materials, you can click on Content on the navbar. So, you will be taken to your course materials. However, some instructors will fill in the Overview and Course Schedule and others will give that type of information in the Table of Contents.
You are able to use the Table of Contents to move through the various course materials. Usually, the Table of Contents is organized by week or by unit. It is important to ask your instructor if you have any problem finding the information.
What should we do if we cannot see some of the course material? Instructors may choose to release materials based on performance on a quiz or having previewed something else first. So, you have to make sure that you follow the directions and complete work as directed.
How to Access Grade in D2L
You can access the course grade in the course navbar under Assessments. There, click on Grades. Usually, there will be a column which shows the grades for each item in the course gradebook. Sometimes, there is an extra column that will show completed with feedback and access to graded rubrics for discussions or dropboxes. Besides, in this column, there are also Instructor’s Inline Feedback or comments on your digital papers.
