According to CSULB’s report, approximately 71% of CSULB undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid. CSULB ranked 5th on the west coast and 11th nationally, as having students graduating with the least amount of student debt.

There are four categories of CSULB financial aid, including:

  4. Waiver

The financial aid that CSULB receives in each semester will be different, depending on the specific award of financial aid. Here are some CSULB financial aids based on each semester:

In fact, the CSULB’s financial aid also depends on the center of California State University. It means that the financial aid packages that CSULB offers to the students are terms of California State University.

There are a number of CSU financial aid packages for students who are eligible for state and institutional financial aid. Here are the types of CSU financial aid packages:

  1. Cal Grant A and B

The California Grant A and B financial aid package serves to help students pay tuition and some fees at four-year California colleges. This financial type has a March 2 deadline to apply using the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The award amounts will vary depending on the type of Cal Grant and the type of college. The award amounts here will be up to $7,145 for undergraduates in 2016 – 2017 at a California State University Campus.

Cal Grant A and B have GPA requirements. In this case, the students who apply using a high school GPA should have at least a 2.0 GPA. Then, the students who apply for a transfer entitlement Cal Grant should have a 2.4 GPA from their community college and have to meet other eligibility criteria.

This CSU financial aid type will require that the student’s course of study will lead to an associate or bachelor’s degree directly or also qualifies for transfer from a community college to a bachelor’s degree program.

  1. Middle Class Scholarship

This type of California State University financial aid seems to provide undergraduate students. It includes the students who pursue a teaching credential with their family incomes and assets up to $156,000 a scholarship to attend the California State University campuses.

  1. State University Grant

The State University Grant financial aid is providing a need-based grant to help pay for the California State University Tuition Fee. This type of CSU financial aid is granted for eligible undergraduate and graduate students who are California residents or also the students who are determined as eligible.

In all systems, this financial aid prioritizes granting a SUG at least equal to the amount of the CSU Tuition Fee. In fact, in 2016 -2017 was $5,472 for undergraduates, $6,738 for graduate students and $6,348 for teaching credentials.

  1. Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Grant

This CSUs financial aid actually provides assistance to disadvantaged undergraduate students economically and educationally. The recipients for the EOP Grant should be California residents who are admitted to a CSU campus via the Educational opportunity Program.

  1. Scholarship

Every student who is eligible can apply for the scholarship that is administered by a California State University (CSU) campus. As we know, the scholarships are free money where the students do not need to re-pay.

  1. California Dream Loan

California State University seems to help the students by offering the California Dream Loan. This is a subsidized loan program for enrolled undergraduate, credential and masters students with a valid AB540 affidavit on file with their CSU campus and also valid with California Dream Act Application.

The students who borrowed money through California Dream Loan should repay with interest. The California Dream Loan’s interest rate will correspond with the interest rate on Federal Direct Subsidized loans. It will also be subject to change annually.

The California Dream Loans do not cause interest when you’re enrolled at least half-time  during the 6-month grade period and during periods of approved deferment before you enter repayment. Certainly, the students will be responsible for the interest charged at all other times.
