When Is Your CFA Institute Membership Deadline?

The deadline for your CFA membership is June 30 of each year. It is known that your CFA Institute membership runs from 1 July to 30 June. The CFA Institute annual membership dues are $275, regarding when you activate between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019.
The CFA Institute annual dues for members in retired states are $100 and CFA Society Miami Member dues are $75.00 yearly. Need to know, CFA Institute and society dues are non-transferable and non-refundable.
How to Renew Your CFA Institute Membership?
It’s pretty simple to renew your CFA Institute membership. What you should do is to complete your application through the ‘My Account’ section. To renew your CFA Membership, you may need to log into CFA Institute with your credentials.
After logging in, you need to go to the ‘My Account’ section at the top right of the page. Once you are at ‘My Account’, you need to click the ‘Membership’ option. At the Membership section, you will need to complete your application.
If you have completed your application, you will be prompted to verify your personal and professional details. Of course, you should complete a Professional Conduct Statement and then submit your member dues payment.
After you submit this information, your CFA Institute and local CFA society membership will be renewed through the current membership year. For more information, your CFA membership years run from 1 July through 30 June the following year.
Some Issues You Will Face When Renewing Your CFA Institute Membership
Reportedly, there are some issues you may face when you renew your CFA membership, here are they:
- Issue of failure to pay
Sometimes, you will face the issue of failure to pay. It can be caused by a corporate firewall that prevents you from proceeding to the payment screen which requests your credit card details. If you are trying to renew from your work computer, CFA Institute recommends that you either contact an IT professional in your organization for assistance or also complete renewal from a device not connected to your organization’s network.
If you cannot find the issue on your company’s network, you can try to clear cookies and cache from your browsing history, open a new browser window and try again. The CFA Institute’s renewal system will not support payments in Microsoft Internet Explorer 11, Safari Versions prior to 13.1 or Microsoft Edge (EdgeHTML). You can also try to use one of the following browsers: Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
- Receiving an error message when using an American Express Credit Card
If you’re using an American Express credit card and face an error message, you need to ensure that you’ve entered the correct security code that is four-digit code on the front of the card you can find above and to the right of your card number.
- Issues when you have selected the ‘Pay by Invoice’ but you want to pay by credit card
If you want to pay using the credit card once choosing the ‘Pay by Invoice’ payment option, you can try one of the following options:
- Call CFA Institute customer support to pay the invoice by phone using your card.
- Cancel your invoice by logging into your CFA Institute account.
After cancellation, you can choose to pay by credit card. Once entering your card payment details at checkout, you do not choose the bubbles next to ‘Alipay’ or ‘Pay by Invoice’. Otherwise, you need to scroll beneath options and choose Continue.

How to Activate Pending CFA Institute Membership?
For some reasons, your CFA Institute membership may be pending. However, you can then activate your pending CFA Institute membership by submitting a Member’s Agreement, filling a Professional Conduct Statement and paying dues.
Of course, your first dues payment varies depending on when you first activate.
- If you activate your CFA Institute Membership between 1 May 2021 and 31 March 2022, your annual dues would be $275 and will be valid through 30th June 2022. You should pay again in May 2023 for the following year (2022-2023)
- If you activate your CFA Institute Membership between 1 April 2021 and 3 April 2022, you will enjoy a complimentary membership through 30 June 2022. You will be billed in May 2021 for the following membership year (2021-2022)
