The Carteret School District is a K-12 district which is located in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. Since 2017–2018 school year, the district and its five schools had an enrollment of 3,825 students and 288.2 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.3:1.

Carteret Elementary Schools
The students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 attend one of three elementary schools in the district. Their Pre-School Program is open to all students who will be four years of age on or before October 1st. The full day program runs 5 days week. The students in Kindergarten will participate in a full day program and have to be 5 years of age on or before October 1st (no exceptions). The elementary school curriculum offerings include 90 minutes of Language Arts Literacy instruction and 60 minutes of Mathematics on a daily basis.
Carteret Middle School
The students in grades 6, 7 and 8 are provided with many active learning opportunities in academics, and extra-curricular which help develop positive physical, social, and emotional development for each individual student. The Carteret Middle School gives a full range of academic programs for their students including self-contained classes, in-class support and resource centers, bilingual and ESL programs, a full service library media center, computer lab and band.
The Carteret middle school’s extra-curricular offer chances in sports and clubs after school for all students. Some of these include basketball and wrestling, the Green Team, Math Olympiad, International Club, Student Council, National Junior Honor Society and peer tutoring. The Family School Organization sponsors additional activities for the students throughout the year including dances and book fairs.
Carteret High School
The Carteret High School has many programs to satisfy student’s learning needs and their interests. The staff consist of 100 highly trained professional and paraprofessionals gives learning centers and use multiple teaching strategies to make educational chances and experiences.
The expanded curriculum offers chances which not only meet mandated requirements, but also allows the students to take advantage of an accelerated academic program. The students who want to get meaningful hands-on experience will be able to take some technical and computer offerings. Advanced Placement courses have been developed in Calculus, Chemistry, American History, Spanish, and English. Also, the students may attend Middlesex County College for college credit if their schedule allows for it.
