Bus Driver Job Description
Responsibilities:
The individuals should provide safe and efficient transportation for students who want to and from athletic events, as well as their respective schools. In this job temporary bus driver position, the applicants will be a substitute school bus driver.
Education requirements:
10 to 12 years of school, or equivalent with specialized training. Must be certified as per the following:
- Commercial Drivers License
- Defensive Driving Course
- Texas School Bus Driver Training course

- Texas Education Agency Motor Vehicle Record check.
Knowledge & Skills Requirements:
The Bus Driver position really requires knowledge of AISD Transportation Department policies and procedures, as well as understanding motor vehicle laws. To encourage cooperation and respect, the applicants should be able to communicate both verbally and in writing with school officials, staff, parents, students, and the general public.
Job description:
- To drive the bus in a safe and efficient way.

- To do two procedures: basic checkout and emergency .
- To provide the reports for staff when requested.
- To complete written reports and discuss all accidents, student injury situations and vehicle damage with the Supervisor.
- Regularly requests funds for all vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Always attend annual driver workshops and training programs and.
- Make sure to instruct the students on bus riding rules and regulations.
Work environment and physical effort:
The work for this position is carried out on a school bus with quite a disturbing noise level. It is possible to always deal with various conditions that are quite bad such as smoke, heat, cold, dust, darkness, dirt, temperature changes, wind, humidity and glare. Very dangerous things that may be faced are traffic accidents, stings, burns, pinched and cut fingers.
