How to Add and Subtract Integers?

To add integers, you can use a number line. To do so, you can do the following steps:

• First, you need to find the first addend on the number line.
• Second, you can add the second addend. If you want to add a positive number, you can move to the right and to add a negative number, you can move to the left. Then, the sum is where you land.

You can also use the signs of the addends to assist you solve. If the addends have the same sign, you can add the absolute values of the addends and also give the sum of that sign. If the addends have different signs, you can subtract the lesser absolute value from the greater absolute value and also give the sum the sign of the addend with the greater absolute value.
